CANTON, New York (WWNY) - State Senator Dan Stec says nursing homes are in crisis.
Stec says this after learning the assisted living facility run by United Helpers in Canton is closing in May, displacing about 30 residents.
The facility says it’s due to reimbursement rates from the government being too low and a lack of staff.
Stec wants reimbursement rates to increase and to allocate millions of dollars in state-share funding toward nursing home Medicaid rates.
